CARES Equity Grants

 

With seed funding from the California Arts Council, MCA is able to offer a limited number of grants, ranging from $500 to $5,000, to arts organizations that reflect and serve Marin’s disadvantaged communities of color that have been hardest hit by the pandemic.

 

 

Eligibility:

  • Must be an arts related organization located in Marin County

  • Must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit or have a qualified fiscal sponsor

  • Must be suffering adverse economic effects due to COVID-19

  • Must be dedicated, in substantial part, to serving Marin’s disadvantaged communities of color

 

Important Dates:

  • Online application portal opens on October 2, 2020 and closes on November 11, 2020 at 5pm

  • Grant awards will be announced on December 18, 2020 following review by a community grants review panel.

Grants Request:

MCA will be awarding Equity grants between $500 and $5,000. Applications will be evaluated by a diverse and changing panel of artists and arts leaders based on the following criteria:  severity of pandemic related losses; cultural benefits to Marin’s communities of color and/or other underserved communities within the County; and organizational professionalism and effectiveness.

Certification & Release:

This Certification and Release must be signed by an authorized board member or designated organizational representative with the knowledge of the matters contained herein, and holds the legal authority to obligate the applicant organization, with the approval of the applicant organization’s board of directors or other governing body. The undersigned certifies that: (1) the represented organization has valid proof of tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or is applying in partnership with a Fiscal Sponsor entity that has proof of tax exempt status under Section 501(c)(3), has its principal place of business in Marin County, California, and has approval of the organization's board of directors or other governing body; (2) all information contained herein is accurate or represents a reasonable estimate of operations based on data available at the time of submission; (3) there are no misstatements or misrepresentations contained herein or in any attachments; and that the undersigned is aware that modification of the proposal at any point may require a contract amendment, rescinding of a grant award, or cancelation of contract. The undersigned hereby releases the Marin Cultural Association (MCA) and the County of Marin, their employees and agents, from any liability and/or responsibility concerning damage to or loss of materials submitted to the MCA and the County of Marin, whether or not such damage or loss is caused by the negligence of MCA, the County of Marin, their employees and agents.
