Programs - Marin Cultural Association
We present multiple opportunities for students and young adults to participate in the arts through onsite programming and the Marin County Fair. We partnered with the Marin Independent Journal’s Music reviewer Paul Liberatore to curate what we call The IJ Lobby Lounge Live. Our partnership gives young Marin musicians an opportunity to perform live in front of 350 people in the Marin Center’s Showcase Theater, some of whom are then chosen to perform live in front of thousands of people at the Marin County Fair. 2017 was our second year of collaboration and this year we have set up a fund with the Marin Independent Journal to be able to give these young people or their school groups grants to help keep their artistry going.
The Marin Cultural Association is also working to expand multi-cultural theatre presentations in Marin County. In the upcoming Marin Center season, MCA is partnering with Brian Copeland Presents to bring to Marin County six extraordinary solo shows curated by Brian Copeland, The Best of San Francisco Solo Series. He has chosen a culturally diverse group of performers telling their often funny, always humane stories for Marin audiences who typically would not be exposed to this genre of art.
Past shows have also included Shaolin Warriors and Neil Berg's 50 Years of Rock and Roll.

We program art exhibits in partnership with local artists, as well as a number of local groups: Youth in Arts, PATH (Prisoner Art Touching Hearts), ELM (Enriching Lives Through Music) and the Marin Photographers Club. Thanks to a generous gift from Lou and Marge Bartolini, we have created a new combined group and solo exhibit gallery space dedicated to Marin artists. The artistic talent in our county is truly inspiring and with your support, we can continue to showcase local talent to a broader audience.
The Marin Cultural Association oversees the docent-led Frank Lloyd Wright Architecture tours of the historic Marin County Civic Center. Public tours are given every Wednesday and Friday throughout the year; private and school tours by appointment.
Tickets can be purchased on-site before your tour, or in advance through the Marin Center Box Office.
Self-guided tours are available through our app for Android and iOS.
We have developed curriculum-based lesson plans and school tours aligned with Common Core standards for grades 3-5. Call us 415-473-6934 to book a tour for your class today!
MCA and the Marin Arts Coalition are spear-heading the development of the Marin County Arts and Culture Master Plan to harness and expand Marin’s creative sector’s contributions to community identity, civic engagement, human potential, and economic development. This plan will take the full measure of Marin’s creative sector, and to plan strategically to leverage, support, and celebrate its ongoing contribution to Marin’s identity, economy, and quality of life. To be included in updates as the planning process progresses, please email us to be added to our list.
Marin Cultural Association’s Community Access Ticket program offers a robust ticket distribution to Marin County nonprofits whose clients would otherwise not be able to attend our performances. If you are a nonprofit interested in participating in this program, please contact us.
