THE Gallery I Belvedere Tiburon Library is a vibrant arts and cultural hub in Southern Marin that actively supports the role of art in building community by showcasing Bay Area artists and providing relevant programming that fosters creativity, critical thinking, and engagement.

"From Fine Art to the Funny Pages: Images in Conversation," ARTalk on April 16, from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Refreshments and gallery viewing at 6 pm

Matt Silady, professor of Comics at California College of the Arts, will speak about how artists combine the language of cartooning and fine art to reflect on and reinterpret contemporary culture. From pop art and advertising to newspaper comics and graphic novels, images from everyday life have long shaped how we tell stories and share ideas.

In this illustrated and interactive presentation, Silady explores how fine art and popular media influence each other. By looking closely at familiar visual forms, he invites audiences to consider how meaning emerges through the relationships between images, text, and our shared cultural experience.
