ARTS NOW MARIN

Arts Now Marin is a collaborative community initiative bringing together educators, arts leaders, and funders to expand equitable TK–5 arts education across Marin County school districts. Backed by the Marin Cultural Association, Marin County Office of Education, Youth in Arts, and funded through the Marin Community Foundation’s Community Power Initiative, this three-year effort serves as a model for how counties across California can strengthen arts access, leverage Proposition 28 funding, and center equity so that every child benefits from the power of the arts.

Building on the Marin County Board of Supervisors’ adoption of the Marin Arts Education Plan and the passage of Proposition 28 – Arts and Music in Schools Act, Arts Now Marin connects countywide efforts to make arts education accessible for all students. The initiative convenes a cohort of educators, administrators, and community arts leaders to assess current access to arts education, identify equity gaps, and develop sustainable systems that ensure arts learning is a fundamental part of every child’s education.

Over three years, Arts Now Marin will assess the landscape of arts education across Marin County, build partnerships between schools and arts organizations, and develop a countywide strategic plan to guide equitable implementation of arts instruction and Proposition 28 funding. Through this coordinated effort, Marin County aims to create a replicable model of arts education equity for the state of California.
