Media Manager, Department of Cultural Services, Marin County
Under the direction of the Deputy Director of Cultural Services, the on-site Media Manager manages a variety of media, communications, and outreach-related activities in support of strategic initiatives, including those involving strategic public relations, marketing, organizational branding, social media, graphics, audio/visual projects, public information, and content for official websites. The position is responsible for the promotion of events and programs at the Marin Center, art exhibits and programs organized by the Marin Cultural Association, the Marin County Fair, the Frank Lloyd Wright docent tour program, and all other Department initiatives. The ideal candidate has experience in arts and non-profit marketing and communications.

MCA INTERNSHIPS
​Internships with the Marin Cultural Association are a wonderful opportunity for students to gain real world experience in nonprofit management, cultural programming, and arts education advocacy. Interns work directly with MCA leadership on meaningful projects, gaining insight into community-driven cultural initiatives. Each internship is designed with flexibility in mind, making it accessible to students enrolled in accredited colleges and universities across the United States.
MCA Arts Education Intern (Unpaid)
2025 Fall and 2026 Spring Semester positions available
The Arts Education Intern will support the MCA’s efforts to expand access to quality arts education across Marin County. Working under the guidance of the Managing Director and executive team, the intern will collaborate with local artists, educators, community leaders, and volunteers to promote inclusive and equitable arts programming. Responsibilities will include supporting MCA’s initiatives such as the Arts Now Marin: Arts Education Equity Coalition—a collaborative of Marin arts and education leaders committed to increasing arts access and opportunity for every student. This three-month unpaid internship is offered during the Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 terms, with an estimated time commitment of up to 10 hours per week. Flexible scheduling and remote or hybrid arrangements are available to accommodate academic calendars and time zones.
Key Responsibilities

Assist with planning, outreach, and coordination for arts education programs and events

Conduct research and help develop materials supporting Arts Now Marin and related initiatives

Support engagement with artists, educators, and community partners.

Contribute to program documentation, evaluation, and reporting efforts

Attend virtual meetings and collaborative planning sessions as needed
Qualifications

Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university (undergraduate or graduate level)

Strong interest in arts education, arts administration, community engagement, or nonprofit leadership

Coursework in arts education, education, museum studies, nonprofit management, or visual and/or performing arts is preferred
-
Self-directed, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently in a remote or hybrid setting

Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
MCA Grants and Development Intern (Unpaid)
2025 Fall and 2026 Spring Semester positions available
The Grants and Development Intern will support MCA’s fundraising and partnership development efforts. This role focuses on conducting research, assisting with sponsorship and grant proposal development, and identifying new funding and partnership opportunities to sustain and expand MCA’s community arts programming and grantmaking. Working closely with MCA’s Managing Director and executive leadership team, the intern will play a key role in supporting strategic fundraising initiatives that benefit artists, educators, and cultural organizations throughout Marin County. This three-month unpaid internship is offered during the Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 terms, with an estimated time commitment of up to 10 hours per week. Flexible scheduling and remote or hybrid arrangements are available to accommodate academic calendars and time zones.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct research on prospective grant opportunities, sponsors, donors, and community partners

Support the development of grant calendars and applications, sponsorship proposals, and donor communications

Assist with compiling documentation and data for grant reporting and program evaluation

Contribute to prospect tracking and cultivation strategies in collaboration with MCA leadership

Participate in virtual meetings, planning sessions, and collaborative brainstorming
Qualifications

Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university (undergraduate or graduate level)

Strong interest in nonprofit development, fundraising, strategic communications, or arts administration

Coursework in communications, business, public administration, journalism, or nonprofit management is preferred

Excellent research, writing, and organizational skills

Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently in a virtual setting

Available to work remotely or on a flexible hybrid schedule
MCA Marin County Fair Intern (Unpaid)
2026 Summer Semester positions available
The Marin County Fair Intern will support MCA’s cultural programming at the 2026 Marin County Fair, specifically focusing on coordination and engagement for the MCA Art Studio and MCA Community Stage. The intern will work closely with artists, performers, educators, volunteers, and community partners to help bring to life accessible, participatory arts experiences for fairgoers of all ages. Reporting to MCA’s Managing Director and executive leadership team, the intern will contribute to the planning, execution, and onsite support of MCA’s presence at one of Marin’s largest and most celebrated public events.
This two-month unpaid internship is offered during the Summer 2026 semester, with a commitment of up to 10 hours per week. A hybrid-remote schedule is available, though on-site participation at the Marin County Fairgrounds is required during the Fair, which is held annually during the week of July 4th. Interns will receive complimentary admission passes to the Fair as part of their experience.
