OUR MISSION
Nurturing artists, enriching lives, building cultural legacy.
Established in 2015, the Marin Cultural Association (MCA) is dedicated to advancing arts and culture across Marin County. As a nonprofit partner to the Marin County Department of Cultural Services, MCA works to elevate programming at the Marin Center and the Marin County Fair, while fostering broader participation, partnerships, and funding to enrich cultural offerings for the entire community.
OUR STORY
Marin Cultural Association was founded in 2015 to give artists and arts organizations a collective voice and raise the profile of the creative sector in Marin County, home to more artists per capita than any county in the U.S. (except Los Angeles). As an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit, MCA partners with the County's Department of Cultural Services but operates through its own fundraising efforts, relying on donors, grants, and community support to fulfill its mission.

In 2019, the Marin County Board of Supervisors adopted the Countywide Art and Culture Plan, which has since served as a roadmap for MCA. Today, MCA is the Board of Supervisors' designated State/Local Partner with the California Arts Council and supports a thriving arts community through programming at the Marin Center and Marin County Fair.

MCA's initiatives span arts advocacy, field-wide trainings on equity and inclusion, oversight of three visual art galleries, arts education in Title 1 schools, re-granting programs, and support for statewide efforts like Poetry Out Loud—all aimed at ensuring the next generation of artists has a stage when their time comes.
